That was by far one of the worst I have seen Cinderford play. If it wasn't for Ben John, we could have really been embaressed. We played very narrow and direct football, while they used their huge pitch and played everything down the flanks. I knew we would struggle last night, but not like that. Things have to improve very quickly...

Funny you say that causewayboy, i didnt go last night but on saturday a couple of there fans were stood behind me and they commented on how narrow we played and very route one, and when we would play them that they would batter us because of there wide pitch and wingers. We dont use the players right thats for sure.

I think we have carried on from the end of last season when it all went wrong, hitting the long ball for the front man to flick on to the wide men, except people have worked out how we play, because our front man wether its Sommers , Wilson , or Smith have to play fairly centre to get space , the wide men have to get close to get to the flick ons so makes us narrow and we get crowded out, when they hit us on the break there wide men have a free run at Archer and Matt Smith, the formation to me is all over the place, looks to complicated. The lads only train once a week together so should keep it simple so everyone understands there jobs. We started off really well last season because we kept it simple. 4-4-2 the problem was we wasnt scoring as many, but that was because we had whitts up front who missed loads of chances, we have Lee Smith this year who is a much better finisher. We then changed system towards end of season to get more goals but it didnt work, we conceeded more! Just wish we kept the ball a bit more instead of lumping upfield and hoping something will happen, only do that in the last 5 mins if we are losing! We have have some very good footballers in our team, i would like to see them play, keep the ball dont worry about passing it across the back to stretch the other team, all our players are comfortable on the ball, use the midfielders of bird and bater instead of missing them out by lumping it over there head, we are a much better team than we are showing, just hope it gets sorted. Soon so we can still challenge.

In Monmouth this morning so picked up the South Wales Argus for the match report of last night's game. Basically, Merthyr missing some of their regulars, but the players who came in did an excellent job. Cinderford were overrun and never in it. Ben John was outstanding. Sorry to say, but we have the players, so is it all down to the way they are being asked to play?

Noticed error after I posted - should have been the South Wales Echo.

Ok can't comment to much as did not go to the match, looks as if we played poorly from the reports on here why are we so fickle as we always moan when we lose ,we have won 2 drawn 1 and lost 3 not the greatest of starts but not a disaster, don't believe we have a game this week chance for Mr Peters to collect his thoughts and try something different so lets get behind the lads as lets face it the Players and management don't go out on the park to lose
Just a thought maybe the Merthyr side were just better on the day last Saturday had D lee put his chance away we would be discussing the next match and how wonderful we are that's the margin between success and failer

Good points especially last para BUT last 4 games the way we have played has not been very special and many people appreciate what a good set of players we have and the hope was obviously much higher. As they say now we`re out of the FA cup we can concentrate on the league. All the posters on this site believe in the team. So, roll on next game.

Dont think we are fickle just fans saying whst they are seeing, and so far we havent played well at all. All the fans i know are 100% behind the team. Fact is we aint creating chances and with the players we got we should be, Ben John as been our best player so far, that tells you something. I still believe we can challenge, just need to sort it out before its to late.
