I see on The City Open Forum that City have settled their debt with Cheltenham Town after a deal made by Colin Peake - another £20,000 to the Landlord, with another to come before the season end.
It's not a nice situation to be in when celebrating your 130 birthday - they are a very old club and it would be so sad if the worst were to happen as they'll probably have their best season on the field since entering the Conference North, and some of the best fans in football.
Regarding the C North and South, I can't help feeling that it's a Division that we can do without, especially with such extensive travelling - City were at Workington on Saturday. And how difficult it must be just making your operating budget with small crowds and expensive players. The formation of these Divisions have diluted the strength of the Southern League - City's attendances have dipped below 300 this season.
Surely with such tight purse strings at most Non-League clubs with exception of The Conference National, the whole pyramid should be examined and re-designed... Also the ground standards should be looked at because having checked the Conference Regional average gates - with the exception of Chester and a couple of others, The Causeway could handle the lot. Some upgrades like shower block and stuff(385 at Workington on Sat)
The above should point Town in the direction of at which level we could sit comfortably, and how a new generation Stadium should be designed and developed - not to have too grand an idea, but have the ability to generate money from other sports and interests other than Football. It's insane to think that Cinderford has two stadiums capable of handling 2000+ spectators, and Gloucester other than Kingsholm has none...
