No offence intended to any fans cos we all want the same thing, but some of you make me chuckle with regards to this long ball short passing style etc etc
You moan about Lewis starting up top cos we hit it long to him then when scott plays you moan we dont pass it through the back. In most game ive watched this year when lewis started we didnt really lump it to him at all, in fact we played some great stuff in pre season an Paulton.
Yet Lewis doesnt play ad the last two game we have looked much more short of options. Now personally i couldnt care what style we play if it gets results, theres no way you would have said bideford play the best football last year but they walked the league.
for my two pennyworth what also coincides with lewis being injured is andy lewis and birdy being out. I think these two were key to how we play cos they both want the ball to feet off the goalkeeper and full backs etc and both comfortbale on the ball. Nothing against otheres but neither of the players who've come in for these 2 are of quite the same footballing ability.
but anyway like i said thats just my opinion i just think we get caught up a little bit in the long ball/short ball etc, i dont care how we play!

From what i see when Lewis is on the pitch we do hit it long for him to flick the ball on for Lee Smith , Dean Lee, Matt Barnes or whoever is supporting him to run onto and to be fair it works plus if he does get it to feet he holds the ball up well to bring others into play so we have really missed him. The problem ive seen since hes been out is we are trying to do the same with Scott Wilson but the problem is hes not that type of player, he likes to run with the ball and not strong enough to hold the ball up. At the back Andy Lewis is our best Centre back by far imo, i thought he should have had player of the year last season, hes comfortable on the ball and likes to pass the ball instaed of lumping it forward. With Dave Bird thats a massive blow too with him being out, need these three back they are the spine of the team!!

Although I agree with the first post a win is a win but having watched the home games this season and not the away games we need to keep the ball to feet which is a strength May get a backlash for this but do feel Dave Bird has yet to perform to his standard ,he is quality is way above any player we have could just be the formation we play or even the style of players around him ,and that will take time ,as for summers upfront he is not mobile enough to play up front on his own unless we have a work like player with plenty of energy around him
Given the choice I would play LeeSmith upfront with Lee and Barnes as wing men withTait playing behind them if fit and then we still have Evans Bater and Bird if fit to play behind them
We have so many options which shows the quality of our squad and as this forum shows so many different views which is why we all watch football ,best of luck to all players and management for Sat

Wasn't he just in front of midfield or the hole ? Scott Wilson was up top alone

In the Paulton and Abingdon games Lewis Somers lay offs with head and feet were superb. He linke up with the wide men and midfield ,making lots of chances for others.Hope he is back on saturday.

If everyone fit I would like to see I would like to see midfield of Andy Lewis playing in front of back four because he will then be able to go forward with ball at his feet and have cover if he loses it. Bird and Bater in middle of park and Taity playing just behind Lee Smith and Lewis. Attack Attack Attack.
