I've been watching the Town a long time too but my memory ain't as good as Bev and Boxxon but who was the guy who played up front for us, I think he was a midlands guy, black stocky with legs like tree trunks.

That was Compton Edwards Dave. Played at the same time as Phil Mullen, Rick Nelson and Kevin Lane.

Off the top of my head - this was a very good line-up... McCluskey, Innocent, Lucas, Brown, Gallagher, Saunders, Boswell, Collins, Tapscott, Mortimer, Smith, There was also a guy called Ian Cotterill who was a big time goal scorer. Hugo Boswell was a great winger, Shaun Gallagher a great centre half. Got a feeling Les Hatton and Barry Boseley also played around this time...

FF-I see you have selected Billy Lucas in your team. Nice chap, lives in Hereford still keeps an eye on our results. He was known as Puffing Billy because of his puffing sounds(lack of breath really),especially playing up the old slope. As well as a good solid left back,in probably the best league we have played in,he had a reputatation for slotting in many own goals-i seem to remember him scoring 4 or 5 in one season.Perhaps Bev or Chris Warren can confirm . Memories of keeper Ron McCluskey include a game at Barry Town in the FA CUP.We conceded a penalty and Ron did all he could to put off the pen taker, by time wasting and doing a Bruce Grobelar wobbily knee shake. Cant remember whether they scored but I have a feeling they missed.
